As part of CLM’s specialist Trusts & Estates team, Jeff helps families put their legal affairs in order so there’s less stress – and fewer arguments – later on. He’s particularly skilled at untangling trusts that have been left to gather dust for decades. Jeff makes sure wills, Enduring Power of Attorney, and other legal necessities are all up-to-date so responsibility and assets can pass smoothly from one generation to the next. He also advises clients on the ins and outs of residential care subsidies so they know what government support they’re entitled to later in life.
Jeff’s approach is very collaborative and he aims to make the process as relaxed and uncomplicated as possible. He believes conversations about death and money don’t need to be cloaked in euphemisms; it’s better to talk openly, with clarity and compassion, so families can move forward with confidence. He also brings the benefit of a diverse career and finance skills, having worked for the Ministry of Economic Development and in commercial banking before joining CLM in 2016.
Around the office Jeff is known for being outgoing, solutions-focused, and keen for a chat on absolutely any subject.
Out of hours, Jeff swaps the office for the outdoors. He’s a keen mountain biker and skier, often chasing trails (and his teenage sons) through Rotorua’s Redwoods or down Ōhau’s slopes. Jogging, orienteering and tramping are also favourite pastimes, along with exercising the family’s beloved labrador.
