As our Junior Trust Account Administrator, Makayla is responsible for keeping all the numbers in line and our firm’s trust accounts running smoothly. She ensures client payments, deposits, withdrawals, and banking requests are accurate and timely, reconciling accounts and performing checks across fixed-term and interest-varying deposits. She performs the final check in transactions and settlements before any money moves, and often prepares trust account financial reports and helps with audits. Makayla enjoys working with numbers and her team to problem solve and get great results for our firm and clients.
Makayla is originally from New Plymouth and spent several years in retail management across New Zealand and Melbourne, leading teams and restoring stores to full strength. She later worked with NZ Customs and the Ministry of Justice as a courthouse registrar before moving to Tauranga and joining our firm.
Colleagues appreciate her thoroughness and the supportive energy she brings to our office. Makayla has been actively involved in our in-house Diversity & Inclusion Committee, helping organise numerous CLM fundraisers for organisations such as Rainbow Youth and Dress for Success, and launching our firm’s Movember efforts for men’s mental health.
Outside of work, Makayla is a keen organiser of social events involving friends and family including a weekly game of social indoor netball. She enjoys quality family time with her partner, daughter, and their loveable huntaway-Staffy cross. Makayla is currently expecting her second child and will return from maternity leave in 2027.
