Campbell brings proven international experience and sharp commercial instincts to his work with corporate clients and private investors. He loves having a front row seat to some fascinating businesses and specialises in all aspects of corporate and commercial law – particularly mergers and acquisitions, business exits, and cross-border trade and investment, especially with China.

Having grown up in small coastal towns like Raglan, Waihi and Athenree, Campbell studied Mandarin in Beijing before earning his law degree at Victoria University and a Master of International Law in Sydney. He’s since practised law in Hong Kong, mainland China, Australia and New Zealand, and held senior roles at top-tier international firms Allens and Clifford Chance. Clients appreciate his proactive and practical advice, and his fluent Mandarin adds serious value on international deals.

Campbell joined Cooney Lees Morgan in 2020 and is the guy you want in your corner – calm, committed and unafraid to roll up his sleeves. He’s also a Beachhead Advisor for New Zealand Trade & Enterprise, helping Kiwi businesses go global. He’s known for being a team player, treating each quiz night like it’s his last, and giving it everything when there’s a dress up prize on the line!

Outside of work, Campbell is a lifeguard with the Omanu Surf Club and a keen fisherman, diver, golfer and occasional tennis hack. But his favourite role by far? Spending time with his family enjoying the incredible lifestyle that the Bay of Plenty offers.
