Growing up on an avocado orchard in Te Puna with an identical twin brother, Chris’ life has always been a mix of healthy competition and hard work. Chris got his first real taste of legal practice through CLM’s summer clerks programme in late 2024 while still completing his law degree at Waikato University. Impressed by his work ethic and eagerness to learn, our firm invited Chris to stay part-time while he finished his studies, and he joined us fulltime after graduating in mid-2025.
Now a Law Clerk in our Corporate & Commercial team, Chris supports clients by undertaking research, drafting contracts, preparing legal advice, organising share sales, and taking care of business incorporations and other transactions.
He enjoys breaking down complex agreements into something clear and practical, and making a difference to a client’s business in the real world. Chris thrives on variety and the fresh challenges that each day brings, and takes pride in working hard, being reliable, and always looking for ways to improve.
Chris is also known for driving an oversized 2017 Mazda BT-50 ute – and his knack for squeezing it into impossible carpark spaces. But it certainly comes in handy to tow his 7.5m aluminium fishing boat at weekends. He loves chasing marlin, freediving for crayfish and spearfishing snapper or kingfish around Mayor Island, White Island and beyond. He can whip up incredible pāua dumplings with garlic and butter, proving that whether he’s in the office, on the water, or the kitchen, Chris knows how to deliver great results.
