Claudia helps businesses of all shapes and sizes navigate the complex world of commercial contracts, mergers and acquisitions, financing, governance and business structuring. She often advises limited partnerships, companies and trusts and in 2023 spent six months on secondment at Zespri supporting their internal team with their legal affairs. Clients value her pragmatic, commercially-focused approach and the way she makes complicated documents easier to understand.
Her path to becoming a lawyer hasn’t been straightforward. In her final year of high school, Claudia sustained a serious brain injury after being hit by a car. Specialists doubted she’d cope with the demands of law school – but she proved them wrong. Completing her degree, and then securing her place at CLM, is one of her proudest achievements. That determination now underpins her work with clients: Claudia is highly organised, motivated and committed to finding the best solutions, no matter how complex the challenge.
Around our office she’s known for her supportive nature. She co-founded the team lolly jar (choc fish never last long) and talks frequently about her energetic dog, Scout – a cocker spaniel cross who has been taught to balance on the front of a paddleboard. Scout wears her own life jacket and leash, but Claudia admits that if a seagull swoops too close, all bets are off and Scout will likely be overboard.
Having grown up in the Bay of Islands, Claudia loves that life in Tauranga offers both professional opportunity and a relaxed coastal lifestyle. For her, it’s the best of both worlds.
