Ivan is the kind of lawyer you want on your side when the property world gets complicated. With more than 30 years’ experience spanning land development and subdivisions, forestry, commercial property, farm and horticulture sales, lifestyle blocks, trusts and private client work, he’s seen it all. Ivan can usually sort out even the messiest of legal tangles – whether it’s expired boat pile resource consents, tricky bespoke easements and covenants, or convoluted subdivision plans that look knottier than a bowl of spaghetti. Ivan brings clarity, empathy and plain-spoken advice that clients can actually understand.

His career has taken him from clerking at the Employment Court and working in-house for a listed property developer, to partnership at a boutique Auckland commercial property firm, before settling in the Waikato in 2018. These days he splits his time between CLM’s Tauranga office and working from his home in Cambridge, helping clients across the Bay and Waikato make confident decisions in an ever-shifting development landscape. Known as a safe pair of hands, Ivan quietly makes legal problems disappear while keeping things friendly, human and even a bit fun along the way.

Around the office he’s renowned for his off-the-wall humour and ability to find lightness in all but the most dire of situations. Outside work, Ivan referees high school rugby, serves as Secretary of the Cambridge Rugby Referees Union, and still finds time to game on his PC. He’s also dad to two grown sons and one very energetic 7 year-old who keeps him on his toes far more than any legal problem ever could.
