Laura is a key member of our Family Law team, specialising in relationship property, trust and estate litigation, civil disputes, and Protection of Personal and Property Rights (PPPR). She can help arrange a pre-nup for couples who want to keep some property separate and protected, sort out sibling disputes over a parent’s will, and review a trustee’s decision that others disagree with. While her background is in litigation, Laura’s approach is firmly resolution-focused – court is always the last resort.
Clients facing fractured relationships or stressful disputes value Laura’s ability to steady the ship. She has been practising since 2012 and has a knack for helping people zoom out and see the bigger picture rather than getting stuck on battles that won’t matter in five years’ time. Respectful and pragmatic, Laura guides her clients through unfamiliar territory with clear advice and compassion. Don’t mistake her friendly and happy demeanour for weakness though – when the moment calls for it, she’s not afraid to be a firm and determined advocate for her clients’ position. Seeing the weight roll off people’s shoulders after they’ve signed a settlement agreement is what makes even the longest of battles worthwhile.
At CLM Laura is known as a great sounding board who thrives on talking through tricky issues with colleagues. She’s also a quiz buff with a special talent for celebrity trivia – but if the question’s about geography, you’ll want someone else on your team.
Outside of work, Laura loves baking and cake decorating (chocolate and carrot cakes are her specialty and in hot demand among family and friends). She also enjoys crocheting cosy blankets and hats for her young son, and walking around Tauranga Harbour.
