Martin is a fully qualified German lawyer with a wealth of HR experience. As CLM’s Senior People & Culture Advisor, he brings a unique blend of legal insight and people expertise to his role, helping foster a high-performing and inclusive workplace culture. He works across all areas of the firm’s HR functions, and his calm, down-to-earth presence helps ensure people feel heard, respected, and supported.

Before moving to New Zealand in mid-2025 with his Kiwi partner and beloved rescue dog, Luna, Martin was Deputy Head of HR at a German government agency and worked as in-house legal counsel focusing on employment law. He also holds a Master of Laws from the University of Bristol, giving him a broad perspective on law and people management across different sectors.

Adapting to the Kiwi way of working has kept Martin on his toes. He’s quickly adjusted to our open-plan office, shared morning tea shouts, and the surprisingly high pie consumption. He is known for making coffee the way he grew up (one cup at a time, with his own filter), much to the amusement of colleagues who still can’t understand why he doesn’t just use the coffee machine.

In his downtime, Martin enjoys cooking a hearty evening meal and sipping a cold craft beer. He’s also a keen mountain biker and is looking forward to exploring New Zealand’s best trails in the near future.
