Kate helps people navigate the complex world of resource management, environmental, local government and public law, turning planning rules and legislative requirements into advice that actually makes sense. Whether she’s guiding local authorities through plan changes and fast-track processes, helping developers manage large-scale projects and infrastructure, or supporting private clients with resource consent applications or planning disputes, Kate ensures people understand the process, the risks, and the practical steps they need to take. It’s work that affects our communities, landscapes and the way New Zealand grows.
With over two decades of experience, Kate also plays an active role in shaping the law itself. She is Secretary of the Resource Management Law Association’s (RMLA) national committee and also sits on their Bay of Plenty branch committee. Through these roles, she stays at the forefront of law reform, monitors emerging issues, and contributes to submissions on proposed legislation – enabling her to help clients make confident, informed decisions in a rapidly changing legal landscape.
She enjoys the variety and intellectual challenge that every day brings, and thrives on helping clients find practical solutions while learning new things herself along the way. She’s known for being thoughtful, calm and organised.
Kate is a hands-on mum to three children. The whole family loves being outdoors and enjoy annual skiing and camping trips (to Ohope and Waipu Cove) with friends.
