Solicitor

We are currently on the lookout for a Solicitor to join our Property and Development Team. This role is to competently provide accurate, effective and timely legal services such as providing advice, drafting documents and letters and conducting legal research to internal as well as external stakeholders of the Property and Development team.

The following is a list of key tasks and does not limit the duties which you may, from time to time, be assigned to achieve the above expected outcome.

Duties & responsibilities

Working in the Property & Development team, the focus of the position is primarily in the areas of:

  • Residential, rural and commercial conveyancing.
  • Advising on commercial property matters.
  • Advising on financing arrangements.
  • Advising on local authority matters.
  • Trusts & estate planning.
  • Reviewing & advising on various commercial matters.
  • Legal research & opinion writing.
  • Assisting with non-billable work including:
    • writing articles
    • assisting with precedents
    • preparing and presenting seminars
    • attending ongoing legal education seminars and workshops from time to time as requested by the firm
    • attending client functions and other client development initiatives
    • promoting the firm in the community by involvement in marketing initiatives implemented by the Firm.
  • You shall duly and punctually perform your duties carefully and accurately and with the degree of care and skill appropriate to a professional person performing them.
  • You will be expected to manage your time recording, billing, debtors, file reviews and other internal audit requirements to a standard acceptable to the firm. The firm will consult with you before setting any fee and chargeable time targets.
  • Assisting other Partners, Consultants, Associates and Staff Solicitors from time to time as requested.
  • Being a team player and developing good working relationships with the Partners, other professional and support staff and clients of the firm.
  • Supervising less experienced solicitors and other staff as and when required.

  • Report ideas for improvement of activities and procedures to manager regularly and look for ways to add value to the CLM business
  • Follow all policies and procedures that may be introduced from time to time
  • Work to agreed standards and meet or exceed performance goals
  • Undertake other duties from time to time as requested

Competencies and skills

  • Experience with MS Office products including, Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook and other relevant technology
