Bachelor of Laws Hons (1st class); Bachelor of Science
As a child, I spent the majority of my free weekends and school holidays on Great Barrier Island which sparked an interest in the environment. I completed my BSc majoring in Environmental Science in 2007 and spent the next 10 years working in resource management and local government planning and policy teams, firstly in Auckland before moving to the Bay of Plenty in 2012. During this time I had a very satisfying career, specialising in high profile and complex planning and policy issues involving council hearings and Environment Court related processes.
Following the arrival of my daughter in 2016, I decided it was an ideal time to change direction. I pursued a long-held ambition and embarked on legal studies, finishing my LLB Hons in July 2021 and being admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court in May 2022.
Resource management matters are a key focus of my role, including resource consenting and district plan advice and litigation / disputes resolution support, and closely watching emerging legislative changes. My planning and policy experience has provided a strong base for this work.
In my spare time I love hanging out with my husband and daughter, travelling and snowboarding – ideally all at the same time!
