Promotions Announced as our Legal Talent Excels

Our desire to always do better and continue developing our services and expertise, is one reason why many clients stay with us for generations.

Career progression is an important part of that ethos and we’re proud to announce eight staff are being promoted through our internal application process in 2024.

CLM’s People and Culture Manager, Penny Miller, says the firm has a well-developed career matrix which allows staff to benchmark their development and strive towards reaching that next step. “Promotions are an important way for us to continue growing our talent. The high quality of this year’s applications show the exceptional level of commitment and effort that people are putting into their work on a daily basis.”

Four members of our Private Client & Trust team have been recognised this year. Jeff Stringer becomes a Senior Associate after eight years’ experience working in trusts and estate planning. Jeff has fully embraced life in the Bay of Plenty and loves mountain biking with his two sons at every opportunity. Tayla Yim-Loy has been made an Associate after joining us last year as a family law specialist. She too enjoys mountain biking in the great outdoors, and also tears up the dancefloor at Tauranga’s Rock n Roll club where she volunteers her time and enthusiasm.

Zoë Stone works on complex estate and property matters and is now a Senior Registered Legal Executive. She is a former real estate agent so knows all the ins and outs of property transactions. She’s also a very talented in the kitchen and loves to cook cuisines from all around the world, in particular Italian and Japanese food. Meanwhile, Rhiannon Doughty has been promoted to Legal Executive after nine years with our firm, which further strengthens our legal executive ranks. Rhiannon specialises in residential conveyancing, trust and estate administration. At the weekends she enjoys reeling in fresh snapper or taking the boat over to Rotorua’s lakes to go wakeboarding with her young family.

In our Property & Development team, Katherine Dentice is now a Senior Solicitor after initially starting as a registered legal executive and putting herself through law school while working at CLM. Now that she has finished her study, she’s exploring all our beautiful region has to offer including local beaches and hiking trails – with Kaiate Falls and Wairere Falls among her favourite spots to visit.

Tim Neill has developed a very knowledgeable practice and becomes a Senior Associate after returning to CLM last year. Tim has always been a talented golfer, and has competed with a scratch handicap in many top level tournaments including the NZ Amateur. He’s also run several marathons and competed in an Australian ironman event, raising a substantial amount of money for the NZ Cancer Society.

Jemma Hollis is a dedicated member of our Litigation & Local Government team. Her previous experience as a town planner has seen her excel in resource management law and she has now become a Senior Solicitor. Combining her love of snow sports and travel, Jemma enjoys holidaying in Queenstown, the French Alps and Japan, and has spent countless weekends at Turoa teaching her young daughter how to snowboard.

And finally, Colleen Bain has been made an Associate in our Corporate & Commercial team. She undertakes general commercial work but has a particular interest in incorporated societies and privacy issues. She works hard to stay connected with her clients and colleagues as she works remotely from Dunedin and travels to Tauranga several times a year.

CLM Chief Executive Officer Cecilia Burgess warmly congratulates everyone on their promotions.

“There are plenty of personal growth and learning opportunities ahead for all our staff in 2024 and it’s exciting to see people take a next step in their careers. It’s wonderful news for these individuals, and for our clients and firm as a whole.”
